I am not rich. I am going to leave behind £50K p-a job opportunity for my MBA. I have unusual post MBA long term goal of working in Public Sector in India. I decided to do my MBA.
Yes, I am risking my life in many ways but I am rest assured because I am going to Georgetown.
Ordinary Life
I am very ordinary Indian who wish to be happy and contribute good to society independently as it is in dire need. This is contradicting because trying to bring change in fundamentals of society does not easily go hand in hand with happy and smooth life. So the question is how best to manage both? I found doing MBA is one such best ways.
MBA has to be
..not just for salary hike BUT
..from top business schools in world to help me think globally in any context
..to put me in the web of intellectual minds from various schools such law, medicine, etc
..and blended with culture of collaboration to tackle most pressing problems with the tools, techniques, and perspectives
to eventually start my own Public Consulting Company in India
Georgetown University McDonough School Of Business
I am an ordinary human, I do well when encouraged. And I feel encouraged and confident when I am convinced that prospects are bright and take me closer to my goals. Precisely, I am searching for a mentor friend!
I was researching on business schools, rank-wise, to round off list of business schools that I can apply to. Even though most of the information about their MBA program is found on their website, but still I tried to reach them. To hear from them, to find out how much they value their prospective student, to match their type of made with mine, and to know what their distinctive characteristics are.
I was offered phone conversation with a Hoya. That's when I was impressed and started paying special attention to Georgetown's McDonough School of business. It is also worth mentioning that I was very impressed with the sensibility of interviewer who gave me heads up on interview style just before the interview.

With McDonough DNA
I got a feel of a global network and ever indulging intellectuals who have sense of collaboration in their DNA.
I am confident that I will get back-patting professors who can help me experiment and put curriculum in to practice in the real world.
I did many half-hearted interviews because I am not convinced but, with McDonough, I can surely say that I did my interview wholeheartedly because I am convinced that Georgetown is my right mentor friend and 'I wanna a ADMIT from Georgetown'.
Huge Risk? Really!
Many friends keep asking me "why take huge risk as there is a lot of uncertainty going on and returns might not be good if I can't find a job in USA, just give another thought!"
Had we not taken such risks so far personally/professionally, we would not have been at this juncture of joining Georgetown's MBA!
Now, I may not be able to convince them completely by logically explaining them with mathematical equations but I remind myself of a beautiful quote "Satisfaction lies in the effort not in the attainment, full effort is full victory"
For sure, everyone accepts that I am going to be paid more, I am going to enjoy a long and global career, I am going to have better reputation, and I am going to be part of go-getters club who never say we can't.. importantly, satisfaction.. So why not take risk even if it is huge for all of these!
