We have heard of many stories dismaying why, what or how can anyone let a child work. Furious debates on child labour and many laws have not done any better. But why?
child labor, any activity that entails physical or mental harm or preventing the child from going to school. But poverty is too much tied to culture and context .
A below poverty line family is headed by Paritosh, who has been working hard for his family. Mrs Paritosh is working and two of their children are also working. But does child labour laws, if implemented, really help Paritosh and his family. Mr and Mrs Paritosh do not want their children work and deeply want their children to be well educated. If you think Paritosh family can be rescued by child labour laws and pull of his children from working, we may have mistaken completely and foolishly. The reason why Paritosh wants his two children to work is that, at least, he wants his children to make their next generation to be rich enough to let their children not work. Four of their family members work full time to earn their livelihood. If any of family members stops working, Paritosh's family not only loose a source of income but also has to bear extra cost his/her expense, may it be cost of education or healthcare and this will only push Paritosh More deep into poverty. On the upside, if Paritosh children gets a job then his entire family can enjoy ride of middle class family, when compared to being in below poverty. Irony is that, Paritosh is not helped in weighing the odds. So before implementing child labour laws, one has to make sure that a family livelihood is not dependent on income of children and ensure that children are not meant as source of income, and assure that education always uplifts family, though sufferings than usual has to be taken for granted rather than remaining in poverty for ever. Without these, implementing child labour laws makes sense as it does if your hands and legs tied, and some one push you into swimming pool and say I have done phenomenal job of saving from pain of tied hands . People ,at most, brag saying child labour laws are saviour. And children can not be separated from their parents for free education, does it not only minus child's contribution but also, sometimes when separated from their parents, cause a psychological trauma to both parents and children.
Most of child labour is caused by the imperial need to survive. In any family this forces everyone to contribute as much as they can. The trade-off for the children’s future is the direct profit to the household.
Not all always, but Poverty is state in process of becoming wealthy. May be many a time every family has to go through this stage to go on to become middle family and more than a bit more luck to go onto become rich. What any family wants is helping hand but not laws that are useless and make people lazy enough to let itself remain in poverty forever.
Implementing ban on Child labour without tackling poverty can only make things worsen for ill fated child labour being bread winner for them self and, at times, for their family.

nobody talks of the children engaged in the entertainment industry. A child artist is essentially a child labor.
