Is Democracy A Disaster

               Democracy, a rule of the majority and has government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections.

What It Really Means

              Democracy means us a lot as it allows to have the right to choose our leader. Democracy also helps a person to express his views more freely.

Is Democracy A Disaster?

              Though, democracy sounds and seems to be so good at first that it makes you fall love with it. Because it is relative newly new system of government that is immensely difficulty to measure ill effects but are certainly can not avoided.
Though it satisfies the gut feeling of people that they are in safe hands but these all counts...

1.As one of the greatest poets Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry describes, mankind has not evolved much since the stone age. Human nature remains the same, more or less, we are fascinated by tribal terms, “my people vs. your people”, hailed as either nationalism, regionalism or religion-ism. In a democracy, tribal mentality is very dangerous, because it will make you vote “for your team” instead of considering the ability of potential leader.

2. Basic assumption of democracy is the that all voters are able to reach a rational, informed decision after seriously exploring all pros and cons.Well, that’s the theory but it is quite a big leap of faith. Too big to ignore!

3.Most candidates aiming at political office resort to populism, pursuing policies that focus on the immediate satisfaction of whims instead of long-term improvements.

4.It is easy to be welcomed to be into power, if leaders focus on emotion before logical reason and “common sense” over more realistic wisdom. So knowingly or knowingly politicians tend to provocative so are the results of being narrow mindedness of well educated.

5.Another important factor why democracy might fail is that leaders comes in to power only if they assure of providing free services and once concept of free services comes into effect, people start to feel entitled to it and if visionary leader tries to stop providing free services he/she will be far from being recognized as leader.

6.When a monarchy fails, its leader is easily held responsible but in democracy person held responsible is found just at end of the every pointed finger. It is just a round robin game !

7.Though theory of democracy states that majority rules but in reality as each minority group is deciding factor in deciding the fate of elections, minority are over wooed and are made more powerful than they really could. Had these been considered and corrected, I think it would be sounding and yielding as it really sounds.
